Fallen Comrade

This is my tribute to all those who have sacrificed, served and given their all to protect what they believe in.

The riderless Bay horse is Comanche, the 7th Cavalry's only "official" survivor of Custer's battalion at the Little Bighorn Comanche was Captain Myles Keogh's horse, Keogh was an Irish Soldier of Fortune who commanded "I" Company of the 7th Cavalry. He died fighting, surrounded by his company sergeants down the slope from Custer Hill at the Little Bighorn. Comanche became the mascot of the 7th Cavalry, after he was rescued and nursed back to health. After Comanche died he was preserved and mounted and is still on display at the University of Kansas.
